Koutsokoumnis reelected CFA President

Costakis Koutsokoumnis, the reelected President of the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), has sent a message of unity but also warned of a tough year ahead in football.

Addressing on Monday the CFA Annual General Assembly, which confirmed his reelection to Cyprus’ football top post until 2019, Koutsokoumnis urged everybody involved in football to leave any differences behind for the greater good.

He said he would work tirelessly in order to deal with problems in football, through dialogue and joint efforts.

Referring to the past year, he recalled that, in spite of allegations of possible misconduct and claims for corruption, investigations by competent authorities showed that nothing was wrong and the CFA was vindicated.

“The Federation has nothing to do with any of the allegations against it” relating to involvement of political parties and state officials in football, the CFA President said, noting the Federation`s sound administration and sound finances.

The AGM has confirmed Koutsokoumnis` incumbency for the years 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. The reelected President, who ran unopposed, will serve his seventh consecutive term in the post he has held for 14 years.
