Nearly 10,000 euros was collected on the first day of ‘London Unedited – A Series of Unphotoshopped Photos by Teodora Maftei’ exhibition, selling pictures of the journalist injured last Friday in the fire at Bucharest’s Colectiv Club, the organizers announced.
Maftei, a photographer and editor of Pro TV private broadcaster, is hospitalized in serious condition at the Bucharest Burn Hospital, as more than 130 wounded are still treated in the city’s hospitals and 32 people died following the tragic incident.
“As doctors advised, even if Teo is in induced coma, I’ll tell her about the warm and pleasant atmosphere I found, about the people who contributed to the exhibition proceedings,” Teodora’s mother Viorica Maftei is quoted in a release of the event organizers. The money collected from the sale of the 23 pictures taken in London this August will be used for the journalist’s medical expenses.
“We were amazed by the overwhelming number of people who visited us (…) and through their solidarity and positive energy have created a calm contemplation atmosphere. We especially want to thank Teodora’s colleagues who help us send the photographs to all those who joined us and supported our cause through their donations. What we designed as a small exhibition of 23 pictures in our small restaurant turned into a charity event, for obvious reasons,” the release mentions.
Donations are accepted in accounts opened by Teodora Maftei’s cousin, Alexandra Maria Stoica: RO03INGB0000999905424321 in lei (Romanian currency) and RO23INGB0000999905424252 in euros; swift code: INGBROBU. More…
