Recent tensions between Israel and Iran have caused significant fluctuations in international oil markets, directly impacting price increases. According to Fadil Berjani, chairman of the Kosovo Petroleum Association, the escalation of the situation in the Middle East raises fears of a disruption in the global oil supply.
“Iran is one of the world’s major oil producers and controls the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of the world’s oil passes. Any further escalation of this conflict will lead to additional increases in global oil prices,” Berjani stated.
At the same time, he said that a possible peace agreement, mediated by the United States, could calm the markets and stabilize prices. Kosovo, which depends on oil imports, has not been unaffected. Current domestic market prices are: Diesel: €1.14 – €1.24 per liter, Gasoline: €1.15 – €1.25 per liter./
