IntMin Oprea: Romania and Turkey – NATO geostrategic pillars

Romania and Turkey are two of NATO’s geostrategic pillars, Deputy Premier and Minister of the Interior Gabriel Oprea said on Friday after a meeting in Bucharest with Turkish Minister of the Interior Sebahattin Ozturk.

“In the current security context, Romania and Turkey represent two of NATO’s geostrategic pillars. Our countries are in close proximity to two major crisis sources, which heavily impact regional and global security, the Black Sea basin and the Greater Middle East, therefore, during today’s talks, we agreed on the need to coordinate our efforts both bilaterally and in co-work with our partners from Bulgaria and Greece,” Oprea said.

According to him, Turkey, as a NATO member, is Romania’s privileged partner in the region, and two states’ relations are based on mutual trust and solidarity. More…
