Industrial production was down in May, on an annual basis, but increased in the first five months of the year, figures released by the Statistical Service on Thursday show.
The Index of Industrial Production for May reached 76.7 units (base 2010=100), recording a decrease of 0.6% compared to the same month the previous year. This is the highest level the Index has reached since September 2014 when it stood at 78.6 units.
For the period January – May, the Index showed an increase of 1.6% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
For Manufacturing, the index reached 78.7 units in May, recording an increase of 0.9% compared to May 2014.
