The issue of vehicles with illegal license plates issued by Serbia, which are circulating on the roads of the north of the country, continues to remain a challenge for the Kosova Police.

Veton Elshani, acting director of the police for the northern region, told KosovaPress that the police have received hundreds of requests from Serbian citizens of the north to register their vehicles with license plates of the Republic of Kosovo (RKS).

According to him, many citizens of the north have also expressed interest in the translation of driving licenses issued earlier from old systems, to those of Kosovo. He emphasized that these requests of citizens have been addressed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and are awaiting a decision from the government.

Elshani stressed that life in the north is gradually returning to normal, while he mentioned Serbia as the main destabilizing factor in this part of Kosovo’s territory.
