President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou has expressed his deepest condolences to the Presidents of the French National Assembly and the Senate, Claude Bartolone and Gérard Larcher, after the terrorist attack against the French newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” which resulted in the death of 12 people.
Omirou expresses the condolences of all the members of the House of Representatives and underlines that this terrorist attack affects the foundations of democratic states and the common European area.
The diffusion of terror, he adds, constitutes a global threat which makes it imperative to intensify efforts, showing more determination and solidarity, in defense of the inalienable rights of every citizen to life, dignity and security.
“We pay tribute to the people who paid with their lives defending their right to think and express themselves freely, denouncing religious extremism”, he concluded.
