Historic record at Adem Jashari airport, over half a million passengers in just August

Pristina International Airport Adem Jashari achieved a historic milestone during August of this year, welcoming over 500,000 passengers. This is the highest number ever recorded and is considered one of the greatest successes of the international airport since its operation began.

The airport spokesperson, Valentina Gara, told KosovaPress that growth has been consistent since the beginning of the year, with passenger numbers increasing by around 16 percent from January to June of this year.

Gara said that this is the first time the airport has recorded half a million passengers within just one month.

“January of this year marked an increase in passenger numbers until June by around 16 percent. Meanwhile, in August we reached a record in passenger numbers – over 500,000. Almost every year we have set new records in passenger numbers, but this is the first time that within one month we reached over 500,000 passengers, or half a million travelers,” said Gara.

According to her, the most frequented destinations continue to be Switzerland and Germany, which lead with the largest number of passengers traveling through this airport. After them come Turkey, Austria, and other European and world destinations.

Gara stated that on September 28, with EasyJet, passengers will be able to fly to Lyon, France, and starting from October 1 there will also be flights to Saudi Arabia, in Jeddah. This year, flights also began to Helsinki and Paris with GP Aviation and ASA Airlines.

“Switzerland and Germany still lead with the highest number of passengers. After them come Turkey, Austria, and other European and world destinations. Regarding planning for the rest of the year, on September 28 we will start with EasyJet with additional flights to Lyon. Meanwhile, as a novelty this season, there have been flights to Paris with GP Aviation and ASA Airlines. We have also had other flights from GP Aviation such as to Helsinki. Another flight, starting from September 28, is with EasyJet, and on October 1 we will begin other flights to Saudi Arabia, specifically to Jeddah,” said Gara.

Despite the increase in passenger flow, airport operations have run smoothly thanks to well-organized planning in infrastructure and increased staff capacity.

“All planning, such as increasing infrastructure capacity and adding more employees at Pristina International Airport, has resulted in having no delays, despite the rise in passenger numbers. No delays, no flight cancellations for operational reasons from airport staff or airport operations,” said Gara.

This achievement of Pristina International Airport is also valued as a success for the state of Kosovo. The airport has had an exceptional year, with a significant increase in passenger numbers and an ambitious goal of reaching 4.5 million passengers by the end of 2025. The year 2024 concluded with over 4 million passengers, or 19.20% more than in 2023, while the number of flights was 16.14% higher than in 2023. The same trend of growth has continued throughout 2025./
