Greek state universities have a new tool for the development of an internationalisation strategy

A new tool for the development of an internationalisation strategy is available to Greek state universities, through the new service of Study in Greece, SiG Intelligence & Consulting
Information, good practices, seminars and consulting services come to frame and support the coordinated effort to internationalise Greek Higher Education, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

“It is, in essence, an internationalisation ecosystem that brings together all the new trends of international higher education and seeks to inspire, inform and guide Greek universities in their internationalisation efforts,” explained Theodoros Papaioannou, the Executive director of Study in Greece (SiG) – a non-profit corporation for Greek Universities and the national body for their internationalisation and extroversion – speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Thursday.

In particular, the SiG Intelligence & Consulting Unit consists of a digital library with open sources – market research, studies, strategies, international best practices – on various aspects, fields and levels of internationalisation, from international demand in knowledge subjects to strategies on attracting students from specific market countries and studies on global student mobility and the future of higher education.

The consulting seminars in question are offered by SiG’s international network of partners – institutions and private individuals of known prestige in the field of international education – and aim to help Greek Universities to identify their goals and set their priorities, developing a strategic plan for their internationalisation adapted to the needs and characteristics of each institution, but in accordance with international standards.

As Papaioannou said, the international environment of higher education and what is called internationalisation follows a specific logic and is governed by strict rules. “Our primary goal, through services such as SiG Intelligence & Consulting, is to inspire people who deal with internationalisation within Greek universities to deal with the field strategically and in a structured manner, through studies and research, so that their efforts are efficient and contribute to the improved quality and international exposure of their institutions,”, concluded Papaioannou.
