Gov’t to discuss repealing provision for sentence curtailment for inmates publishing scientific books

The Government will be discussing today an emergency ordinance repealing curtailing the sentences on inmates who publish scientific books.

“There is no equivalent in any EU member state for having any benefit for writing a scientific book behind bars. We also have discrimination here, because if I’m painting while executing a sentence, I get nothing. Artistic work is not to be rewarded in any way. So yes, I will make a proposal to the government to take off this provision, on Feb. 3,” Pruna told Wall Street Journal (WSJ) in a recent interview.

The Government says is a press release sent to AGERPRES that also today the Government will approve granting emergency aid to the families of the people who died following the October 30 fire at Colectiv Club in Bucharest and to the fire injured. More…
