Gonxhja: 42% more visitors to cultural sites from January to July

TIRANA, Aug 12 /ATA/ Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, shared the good news that cultural sites have seen an increase in visitors by 42% compared to a year ago. It is about the period January to July 2024, during which our cultural sites have welcomed 651,796 visitors, 23% of whom are foreign tourists. 

“The spirit of Albania is alive in these monuments, where history meets the present and is conveyed to visitors and future generations,” Gonxhja wrote on social networks. 

He further listed the number of visitors for the castles of the most visited archaeological sites in the country, topped by the Castle of Gjirokastra with 120,723 visitors, museums include that of Kruja followed by the archaeological sites of Shkodra, Butrint and Apolonia. 

Museum “Gjergj Kastrioti” Kruja – 90,955 visitors 

Archaeological Park Shkodra – 85,806 visitors 

Archaeological Park Butrint – 84,742 visitors 

Archaeological Park of Apollonia – 68,469 visitors
