The opening concert and the piano final competition of the 2016 George Enescu Competitive Music Festival are already sold out, organisers announced in a press statement on Wednesday.
Oma Vision says tickets are still available for various extraordinary recitals as well as for the September 13 violoncello final competition under the baton of Alex Boch and the September 19 violin final competition to be conducted by Christoph Poppen. Ticket prices vary between 40 and 50 lei.
Invited to perform in the opening gala of the 2016 George Enescu Competitive Music Festival, September 3-25, are former laureates Anna Tifu (violin), Valentin Radutiu (violoncello) and Mihai Ritivoiu (piano).
For the first time, the three highly-acclaimed artists, who will also sit on the jury of this year’s edition of the Enescu competitions, will stage extraordinary recitals at the Romanian Athenaeum on September 7, 16 and 22. September 7, violoncellist David Geringas will give an extraordinary recital accompanied on piano by Ian Fountain, while Romanian violinist Florin Croitoru, accompanied on piano by Verona Maier, will take the stages at the Athenaeum on September 16, and British pianist Peter Donohoe will give a concert on September 22.
Joining the already famous artists, the public will get to know in a new iteration in three extraordinary recitals the winners of the 2014 edition of the festival, currently in full swing of fame on the world’s stages of classic music.
