French Ambassador in Bucharest Francois Saint-Paul sent on Thursday a message of gratitude to Romanians for the solidarity expressed in difficult moments for his country, following the January 2015 deadly terrorist attack at the headquarters of French magazine Charlie Hebdo.
“France and French people living in Romania remember with great emotion the solidarity shown by Romanians, who sent us hundreds of messages of support, who came to the French Embassy to write in the condolence book, to light candles or to bring flowers in the memory of the victims. I especially thank the Romanian head of state Klaus Iohannis, who took part in the Solidarity March on January 11, 2015, in Paris. This support, renewed in an equally strong manner, in another tragic episode of our history, on November 13, 2015, is, first of all, an affirmation, a sharing of values promoted by France — Liberty, Equality, Fraternity — European values with universal outreach,” Saint-Paul stated in his message, according to a statement sent to AGERPRES by the French Embassy.
Embassy staff, representatives of French associations and high representatives of authorities and of civil society in Romania observed on Thursday a moment of silence next to the French flag in memory of the victims of the 2015 Paris attacks.
The Embassy reminds the public that recently in France several ceremonies were held in memory of the victims of attacks that took place last year in the French capital. More…
