ForMin Aurescu: We have a duty to use Romania’s vocation as a bridge to project stability

Romania has a duty and responsibility to use its vocation as a bridge amidst multiple security, economic and human challenges, Romania’s Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said Tuesday.

“Romania is located at the external borders of the EU and NATO, in the enlarged strategic area of the Black Sea, a region facing multiple challenges, where we have uncontestable security, economic and human interests represented by our fellow citizens there. (…) We have a duty and responsibility to us as a country and to the community of values of which we are a member to use our vocation as a limes, a bridge to project stability, democracy and prosperity, while you, as representatives of the elite Romanian youth overseas, are an integral part of the values, objectives, efforts and responsibility of the community I have in mind. The complicate context of these days shows us that we ought to secure together and generate through joint efforts social stability and security. This reality proves more than ever before the need for us to activate the strategic resource represented by the young people, their involvement in the development of Romania by capitalising on the expertise they amass abroad through as concrete as possible solutions and actions,” Aurescu told a conference on Tuesday called “Smart Diaspora 2020+: How to capitalise on the strategic potential of the Romanian Diaspora,” organised at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.
