ForMin Aurescu: If Moldova pursues European route, external interference cannot break citizens’ will

Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu estimates that no kind of external interference will be sufficiently strong as to break the will of the Republic of Moldova’s citizens to be closer to the European Union, if the country pursues the route of the democratic reforms in an European spirit.

“I am convinced the Russian Federation is not too happy (…) with the European route of the Republic of Moldova and this is no secret; but I think that if Chisinau authorities, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova keep on supporting this route of getting closer to the European Union, this route of the democratic reforms in an European spirit from all viewpoints, including in terms of the judicial system, the combat of corruption (…), I think that any kind of external interference will not be sufficiently strong as to break this will of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to be closer to the European Union”, Aurescu said in an interview with AGERPRES.
