The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East, including those related to the transport of the ‘Holy Light’ to Greece, ministry spokesperson Lana Zochiou told reporters on Tuesday.

“Any available options cannot be disclosed for security reasons,” she underlined, during the regular briefing of diplomatic correspondents.

“We are in contact with the competent authorities,” she said, adding: “Greece will explore all possible ways to ensure the transfer of the Holy Light.”

Zochiou also noted that a visit by Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis to Tripoli, Libya, has been postponed due to anticipated severe weather conditions.

The visit had been scheduled for Wednesday, 1 April, a few days after his visit to Benghazi.
