FM flies to Iran on official visit

An official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides to Iran will focus on bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, regional developments relating to the Islamic State and developments in the talks on Iran`s nuclear programme.

Kasoulides departs for Tehran on Friday and returns on Monday, an official press release says.

During his visit in Tehran, he will meet with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and will hold separate meetings with Iran`s President Hassan Rouhani, the Parliament`s President Ali Larijani, former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and the senior advisor on international affairs to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati.

Bilateral ties, the Cyprus issue, regional developments with emphasis on Iraq, Libya, Syria and Lebanon, issues relating to the Islamic State (ISIL) and recent developments in talks on Iran`s nuclear programme will be, among other topics, the focus of his meetings, the press release says.
