Five Working Groups Start Work for Bulgaria's EU Presidency in Second Half of 2018

Sofia, February 23 (BTA) – Five working groups will carry out the initial preparation for Bulgaria’s EU presidency in the second half of 2018, it was decided at Monday’s meeting of the European Affairs Council, the government’s information service said.
The five groups are: administrative capacity; infrastructure, logistics and security; communication strategy and cultural programme; financing and public procurement; and priorities and agenda of the presidency. The groups will have as members representatives of the relevant ministries.
Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva said that money for renting new premises in Brussels will not be necessary, despite the double increase of the staff in the permanent representation required by the presidency. She said sponsorship will be solicited from private companies, as is the common practice of the other EU member states.
Culture Minister Vezhdi Rashidov, who attended the meeting, said that a competition for logo of the Bulgarian presidency of the EU should be conducted.
