FinMin: International financial institutions appreciate Romania’s staying within 1.83 pct of GDP deficit target

The budget revision is agreed upon with the international financial institutions, which appreciated the fact that the 1.83 percent of GDP deficit target is maintained and the Tax Council’s stand is positive, Public Finances Minister Eugen Teodorovici said in the beginning of the Government’s meeting on Tuesday.

He made the remarks in answer to Prime Minister Victor Ponta’s question regarding the reaction of the international lenders to the revision announced by the Government. “You have the technical discussion with the IMF and the European Commission. Is it ok? Do we stay within the deficit target?” Ponta asked.

The finances minister stressed Romania’s foreign partners “appreciated the fact this revision is within the pledged target of 1.83 percent of GDP and the Tax Council’s stand is also positive”. More…
