EYOF 2015 Tbilisi: Romania wins four medals, ranks 13 after four days

Romania’s delegation ranks 13 in the medals’ classification at the European Olympic Youth Festival in Tbilisi (Georgia), on Thursday, after four days of competitions, with two gold, two silver medals.

Romania’s medal count at the EYOF Tbilisi 2015 is currently of two gold medals — won by swimmer Maria Claudia Gadea (in the girl’s 400m medley event) and athlete Georgiana Iuliana Anitei (women’s triple jump), and two silver medals clinched by athlete Bogdan Ioan Sitoianu (men’s long jump) and judoka Razvan Ciolan (men’s 73-kg category).

In the tennis tournament, Selma Stefania Cadar qualified in the women’s singles semifinals, after defeating by 6-3, 6-0 Belarussian player Katerina Pavlenka. As for the men’s singles, Stefan Francisc Palosi was beaten in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6 by Belgian Tibo Colson.

At artistic gymnastics, Ioana Teodora Crisan went sixth at individual all, with 54.000 points, while Olivia Cimpian was 14th, with 52.100 points.

Athlete Ioana Manoliu finished 10th in the long jump final, with 5.45m, Ioana Diana Tiganasu ranked also 10th, with 13.93m, in the shot put event. More…
