Cyprus` Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism Ministry has secured a total of €165 mln from European Structural and Investment Funds for the 2014-2020 period, of which €66 mln are expected to be made available though schemes for subsidies to be announced within 2015.
Moreover, the Ministry is intensifying its efforts with financial institutions and the Cooperative banking sector, in order to avoid inefficient financing of approved investment plans.
Addressing on Saturday an event on European funding opportunities, Energy Minister Yiorgos Lakkotrypis highlighted existing and upcoming opportunities to secure subsidies for investment proposals, though the Ministry`s various schemes.
He referred moreover to efforts to simplify the application process and to the reinforcement of the competent Ministry division with additional personnel, while calling on all interested parties to make use of the funding opportunities his Ministry has been offering.
