President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the 5th European Political Community Summit in Budapest, according to government officials.
Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letybmiotis wrote on ‘X’ that the meeting between President Christodoulides and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan took place in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, who is accompanying President Christodoulides to Budapest, also wrote on ‘X’ about the meeting noting that the President of the Republic had a meeting and conversation with the Turkish President, at the beginning of the deliberations of the European Political Community. He added that the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs was present at the meeting while later they were accompanied by the Prime Ministers of Greece and Albania.
Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Victoras Papadopoulos, said on ‘X’ that President Christodoulides had the opportunity to talk with the Turkish President, as well as with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
He also noted that the conversation between President Christodoulides and President Erdogan took place in the presence of the Prime Minister of Greece.
President Christodoulides is in Budapest to participate in the European Political Community Summit. On Friday, he will participate in the informal European Council Summit, that will discuss the future of European competitiveness.
He is accompanied by Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Raouna, the Deputy Government Spokesman and other officials.
