Cyprus Police heightens security measures after Paris attacks

Cyprus Police heightens security measures, assured Chief Zacharias Chrysostomou on Wednesday, noting that the terrorist threat parameter will be taken into consideration when dealing with crowded events.

He noted, however, that “there is no evidence or pieces of information for which we should be worried about”.

Speaking after a meeting with House President Yiannakis Omirou, the Police Chief also said that some of the measures are visible to the people, while others are not. The Police remains alert and draws lessons form the experience of its partners in the EU, he added.

Increased security measures will affect all areas, Chrysostomou has noted.

Omirou expressed from his part his satisfaction over the measures and said that the state must provide the Police with all means necessary, in order to deal with the new type of threats.
