Cyprus participated for the second time in the Goût de France (Taste of France) events, which took place in 150 countries, on March 21, with a view to promote French gastronomy. One thousand seven hundred restaurants organized events all over the world, six of them in Cyprus.
According to a press release issued by the French Embassy in Nicosia, representatives of the embassy attended the dinners at the restaurants to honour the chefs` and the restaurants` engagement to promote the French gastronomy.
Moreover, the Ambassador of France to Cyprus René Troccaz invited business people, diplomats, politicians, journalists and people engaged in cultural activities to taste dishes of the French cuisine prepared by the chef of the Ambassador`s residence Αbdelmounaïm Benihoud and enjoy their evening together.
In this way, the press release noted, the Ambassador, who arrived in Cyprus a while ago, proved the extent to which gastronomy is related to diplomacy, since both fields are focused “on promoting contacts with people and demonstrating the will for understanding and exchanges.”
One of the chefs who participated in the events is well-known Cypriot Andreas Mavrommatis, who is successfully operating restaurants in France for many years now.
