EnergyWater, a European project aimed at reducing by 20% energy in industries using water, was officially launched on Monday, in Spain.
The Cyprus Energy Agency participates as a partner in the project, which is funded by the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Commission.
“The project aims at reducing energy in industries by 20% using water, with the implementation of energy efficiency measures which are expected to result in primary energy savings of 26GWh annually in the countries involved in the project” the Cyprus Energy Agency, a non-profit organisation, said in a press release.
“To achieve this ambitious goal there will be an assessment of the current situation concerning the processes and equipment in industries that use water to determine the potential energy savings”.
Foreign organisations from the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Greece, Italy and Belgium will provide their expertise, the press release added.
