Cyprus and Vietnam sign agreement for Visa Waiver for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Official Passports

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides and the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son on Friday signed an Agreement for Visa Waiver for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Official Passports between the Republic of Cyprus and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

According to an announcement issued in Nicosia, prior to the signing of the agreement, the two Ministers and their delegations hold a meeting. The agenda of the meeting included, inter alia, the bilateral relations and ways of enhancement, the developments on the Cyprus problem, the economic and political developments in Asia, as well as the relations of Vietnam with the European Union.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN-backed talks, aiming to reunite the island under a federal roof, resumed on May 15, this year.
