The aeronautical forces of the Republic of Cyprus and the French Navy took part in the early hours of Monday morning in a Search and Rescue drill south of Cyprus an official press release has said.
According to the press release the drill under the code name “CYPFRA – 02/15” was completed successfully in the maritime region south of Cyprus, within the area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Center of Larnaca had the full coordinating and operational control of the aeronautical forces which took part in the exercise, the press release noted.
The scenario had to do with a naval accident in open sea.
The JRCC put into practice national plan “Nearhos” with a view to carry out an operation for airlifting an injured person from the French frigate.
