The world’s largest martenitsa (small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn), 17 meters in length, pertaining to the collection of the Regional Library of Vidin, Bulgaria, will be exhibited on March 15 at the Buzau County Museum.

In March, the famous martenitsa will be exhibited in Skopje, Vidin, Buzau and Sofia as part of a travelling exhibition.

According to deputy director of the Buzau County Museum Daniel Costache, the 17-meter-long martenitsa was included in the Guinness World Records in 2015.

“In March, the Buzau County Museum will organize an international temporary exhibition featuring customs relating to the offering and wearing of martenitsas in the only areas where this custom is observed since ancient times: Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Macedonia, and a special place will be given to this martenitsa,” Daniel Costache said in a press conference.

According to Costache, “the famous martenitsa will also be exhibited in Dacia Square in the Municipality of Buzau on March 16”. More…
