The coffin with the body of Queen Anne arrived on Tuesday in Romania, at the Henri Coanda Airport of Bucharest.
Attending the welcoming and prayer ceremony were Crown Princess Margareta, Custodian of the Crown, Prince Radu, Princess Elena and her spouse Alexander Philips Nixon, Princess Sofia, Princess Maria and Princess Sofia’s daughter Elisabeta Maria Biarneix, presidential advisor Andrei Muraru, members of the Royal House.
From the Tarom airplane to the bier placed on the airport platform, the coffin covered with Queen Anne’s flag and flanked by two Knights of Malta was carried on the shoulders by eight soldiers of the 30th Guard Regiment “Michael the Brave”.
A Catholic prayer was delivered, presided over by Metropolitan Bishop Ioan Robu together with Iasi Roman Catholic Bishop Petru Gherghel and Auxiliary Bishop of Bucharest Cornel Damian, in the presence of the representative of the Romanian Christian Orthodox Patriarchate, Archbishop Nifon of Targoviste.
The coffin was then taken to the hearse and the procession set off for the Peles Castle — Sinaia.
The coffin with the body of the late Queen will be laid in state on Tuesday in the Hall of Honour of the Peles Castle until Wednesday at 18:30hrs, and on the evening of the same day will be placed in the Throne Hall of the Royal Palace in Bucharest.
Crown Custodian Princess Margareta and the royal family will be present at the ceremonies in Sinaia. More…
