Chief of Defence Staff, meeting with Spanish counterpart: Defensive measures and training, intensified
Bucharest, Dec 19 /Agerpres/ – Chief of Defence Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad, met with his counterpart from the Kingdom of Spain, Admiral Teodoro López Calderón, the main points of discussion being the current security situation, the expansion of military cooperation relations, the strengthening of multinational structures and major opportunities for joint training.
Admiral Teodoro López Calderón is on an official visit to Romania until the end of the week.
In the context of the strategic partnership between Romania and Spain, the cooperation between the two armies is on an upward trend, both bilaterally and in allied format, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
“I have thanked Admiral Teodoro López Calderón for the consistent presence of the Spanish military in Romania and for the significant contribution made to strengthening the deterrence and defence posture in this part of the eastern flank. The security challenges have led us to intensify defensive measures and training, something that further strengthens the ties between our countries’s armies, allied solidarity and interoperability,” General Gheorghita Vlad said at the end of the meeting.
The Spanish official’s program includes visits to the Romanian Air Force 57th Air Base “Captain Aviator Constantin Cantacuzino also known as Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, the Headquarters Multinational Corps Southeast (HQ MNC-SE) in Sibiu and the National Joint Training Center Getica in Cincu.
