Cabinet observes a minute’s silence in memory of Paris victims

Terrorist attacks and the action of extremists, in general, αare a blow to democracy, to the stability of states and cause human tragedy, which is worse both for the immigrants and the countries which host them, President Nicos Anastasiades said on Tuesday, prior to a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which observed a minute’s silence in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris, on November 13.

“The large number of victims, and as a tangible expression of solidarity, which we must maintain towards France, dictates that we should observe a minute’s silence,” Anastasiades said, noting that he has already sent a letter to the President of France and has made public statements on the issue.

On Wednesday, he will sign the book of condolences that has opened in the residence of the French Ambassador, in Nicosia.

“We are all witnesses to the events that took place in France. I believe that the terrorists attacks and that, in general, the action of extremist elements constitute a blow to democracy, a blow to the stability of states, and create, in general, a human tragedy, which is worse both for the immigrants and the countries which receive them,” Anastasiades added.
