Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (BIEFF) kicks off with sneak preview of ‘Francofonia’

The 2016 edition of the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (BIEFF) will kick off with a sneak preview of the Alexandr Sokurov-directed feature ‘Francofonia’ (2015), winner of the best Euro-Mediterranean Film award at the 2015 Venice Film Festival, the festival’s organizers inform in a release sent to AGERPRES on Friday.

According to the synopsis, in ‘Francofonia’, the Russian director, one of the important names in contemporary avant-garde cinema, follows the unexpected relation between Director of the French National Museums Jacques Jaujard during WW2 and Nazi Occupation officer Count Franziskus Wolff Metternich, enemies who turn into collaborators to protect and preserve the art treasures of the Louvre museum during one of the most devastating conflicts in history.
