Bucharest became an associate member of the Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI); Mayor Sorin Oprescu signed the Charter of Urban Lighting on Wednesday.
“We’re trying to transform the city (…) I believe in experts’ knowledge and in the devotion of people working to allow us all being proud of truly aligning as a community and as a major European city,” Oprescu declared on the occasion.
LUCI Vice President Mary-Ann Schreurs acknowledged Bucharest’s progress since the city used to be called ‘the Little Paris’; she mentioned the importance of helping people in their homes, of creating new learning conditions in schools and developing attractive public spaces.
LUCI supports its member cities in drafting projects and plans for energy efficient public lighting. More…
