BTA Director General Valchev Urges Local Authorities to Use Agency as News Platform

“Use BTA as a free platform for all local news, cooperate with our correspondents for objective coverage and participate in the forums hosted by BTA’s national press clubs,” BTA Director General Kiril Valchev urged delegates on the second day of the 37th General Assembly of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria.

BTA already offers free access to its news and does not expect subscriptions from municipalities or payments for the publication of news as was the practice three years ago. BTA publishes only facts always with a clear source, said Valchev.

Valchev said that the agency has a free service for publishing of original texts from the local authorities.

The BTA Director General underscored that BTA continues to expand its network of correspondents in the country. “Our most important investment is in people. We have plans for a second full-time correspondent everywhere in the country by the end of the year,” he added.
