BIG BUILD 2016 will gather together 800 volunteers from nearly 15 countries – including the US, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Slovakia – as well as Romanian companies to build, October 3-7, 40 houses in five days to celebrate the World Habitat Day, celebrated every first Monday of October.
In a press statement released on Wednesday, the Romanian Labour Ministry says 1,200 volunteers more will work in the pre-event, to set up the construction site. According to the statement, this will be the largest accelerated building event and volunteerism project in Europe.
The ministry also says volunteerism at the Habitat for Romania construction sites is excellent social involvement experience, as volunteers work together with with the beneficiaries of the houses. Participation in the event entails two kinds of costs: logistics (accommodations, food, transport, protection equipment) and a donation, which is a symbolic 10 lei in this case.
