Around 3,000 hauliers protest in front of Government’s building against compulsory insurance price rise

Around 3,000 hauliers protest in front of Government’s building against compulsory insurance price rise to estimates by the Gendarmerie, around 3,000 hauliers gathered on Thursday morning in Victoriei Square and on Kiseleff Blvd. in Bucharest to protest against the price rise of Civil Auto Liability (RCA), a compulsory insurance.

The protest started, officially, at 9:30am, when the hauliers, who drove in their cars, buses and minibuses, started to honk.

The protest will end at 3pm, and is expected to attract around 7,000 buses, coaches, and cabs pertaining to unions active in the public passenger transport sector as well as lorries carrying out freight transport activities.

The protest is organized by the Confederation of Operators and Authorized Transporters in Romania (COTAR) together with the Romanian Transport Operators’ Federation (FORT), the Employers’ Association of Carriers Europe 2002 (APTE 2002), the Romanian Association for International Road Transport (ARTRI), the National Association of Independent Transporters and Taxi Drivers (ANTTI) and the Transport Operators’ Association (APULUM).
