Anastasiades sends condolences to Biden over loss of his son

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades sent a letter of condolence to US Vice President Joe Biden, whose son Beau passed away Sunday, aged 46.

“It is with the most profound sorrow that I received the heartbreaking news of the passing of your beloved son” Anastasiades said in the letter, sent in addition to a message of condolence that he had sent on 31 May.

“Beau`s life was defined by service to others, honorable devotion to his country, to his family. His career and his professional accomplishments, speak to a man who selflessly devoted himself to public service, and to creating a better and fairer world. Beau deserved more life, and I grieve with you at this tragic loss” the President said.

“On behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as on my own behalf and on behalf of my whole family, please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences” he added.

“In these most difficult of times, I wish you and your family strength and equanimity. May God watch over you, your family, and Beau’s spirit”.
