Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will meet again on Monday, in the framework of the UN-backed negotiations for a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem. The meeting will take place in the United Nations Protected Area in Nicosia.
The leaders of the two communities in Cyprus have decided to intensify the Cyprus negotiations, aiming at reunifying the island.
This intense phase starts today and will continue on the 5th, 18th 20th, 23rd and 25th November. The negotiators and their teams will continue to meet on an almost daily basis.
In statements at the Presidential Palace, after returning on Friday from his meeting with Akinci, President Anastasiades said that in November the leaders will be discussing all pending issues as well as the issue of properties.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory. Anastasiades and Akinci have been engaged in UN-backed talks since May this year with the aim to reunite the island under a federal roof.
